---This project is the first multi-international dinosaur expedition to be hosted by the city of Hwaseong in the Republic of Korea. The purpose of this project is to discover, collect and study dinosaur fossils from the Gobi desert in Mongolia, which is one of the most important dinosaur localities in the world, and utilize them in the new museum that Hwaseong is planning to soon build.
---The period of this project is for five years from July 1st, 2006 to June 30th, 2011. The expedition will run for about 40 days in the Gobi between August and October of every year.
---This project has been made possible through the cooperation and support given to Hwaseong by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of Mongolia. Accordingly, the city of Hwaseong and the Mongolia ministry delegated the authority to run the project to Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) and Paleontological Center, Mongolian Academy of Sciences, respectively. KIGAM has also entered into an official research agreement with Southern Methodist University, USA, and the University of Alberta, Canada to participate in the project. The multinational team coordinated by KIGAM will be augmented each year by additional dinosaur researchers from countries such as the USA, Canada, Japan, and China, amongst others.
